Attention is like a combination spotlight and vacuum cleaner: it illuminates what it rests upon and then sucks it into your brain—and your self

Pay attention.

We learn to praise God not by compliments, but by paying attention.

~ Frederick Buechner quote

One way to praise is by being thankful.

What are you thankful for, today?  Use all your senses to begin praising God.

  • What do you SEE that you’re thankful for?
  • What are you TOUCHING that you’re thankful for?
  • What are you HEARING that you’re thankful for?
  • What are you TASTING that you’re thankful for?
  • What are you SMELLING that you’re thankful for?

Here’s a quick challenge for today: Set your smart phone to ding you at 3 or 4 hour intervals and record what you’re thankful for using your five senses…

Are you missing some of the senses?

  • Maybe it’s time to go outside, or move to another space?
  • Maybe it’s time to eat something crispy and juicy, or turn on some music to dance to?
  • Maybe it’s a good time to kiss your loved one or pull our some sweet smelling lotion to give yourself a hand massage?
As you go through your day, give thanks.
We all live in a wonderful world, surrounded by great blessings.
